That late night lure...

.
...the kebab van! Like metal moths to the bright lights of cholesterol. Well the roads were dry, and the tea was hot, and what else is open at midnight?

Cannonball Bob led us mercilessly cross country along old smuggler's routes and highwayman ambush points,  the warnings of deer and burning clutches being the only modern day worries however. (Oh, and the two ghost cars that made our four cars a train of six pairs of headlights for about four miles ...before disappearing. What were they, 'cos we weren't going slowly? They'd have picked off the slow one at the back first tho' wouldn't they Andy? He was quite tired, he'd been up since lunchtime.)

The next day whilst nosing through the engine bay, looking for trouble, I found it! Uh oh, broken chassis tube.

Since delivered to 7 specialist James Whiting to have this 'splinted' up. It's all getting a bit flaky under there after 22 years, but this type of damage takes a bit of doing. Pot holes won't help when cornering hard, but this could have been as a result of hitting something in the road...think I would have heard/felt this tho'! I'm hoping this is repairable before next weekend's Rallye de Jonquilles. Co-driver for the event, Ian H, is looking forward to a couple of day's ride in a proper engined car...and now he can also enjoy the guessing game as to which bit's going to fall off next!!
